剧情介绍故事发生在阴暗灰冷的万圣镇，那里住着各种各样的鬼怪，他们唯一的任务就是为每年一度的万圣节作准备。瘦高个子的稻草人，顶着一颗人类的骷髅头——南瓜王子杰克深受怪物的爱戴，但是却没有人知道他内心的痛苦，他有着诗人般忧郁浪漫的情怀，渴望着不同于万圣村邪恶之灵的生活。
当杰克无意在树林的深处发现了一圈有着奇怪的门的大树，他被其中一扇刻有圣诞树的门深深吸引了，好奇之下，他打开了这扇神奇的门，结果一下子坠入到了另一个洁白的冰雪世界——圣诞镇，镇上明亮的灯光和斑斓的色彩使稻草人惊奇不已，而镇上那种欢乐的气氛更让杰克心驰神往。为了体会圣诞节，他绑架了圣诞老人，并按照圣诞节的规矩生产“礼物”。
杰克有着美好的愿望——要给人们带来欢乐，但是他手下的妖怪却只会生产各式各样吓人的玩具，他们一心以为这是伟大的杰克想出的又一个“整人计划”，于是圣诞节还是变成了万圣节，人们从孩子的惊叫声中醒来，他们将穿着圣诞老人衣服正满心欢喜地驾着鹿车飞过天空的杰克一炮轰了下来。

【顶尖数码立体技术Disney Digital 3D】
地位超然的《怪诞城之夜》，当然受到无比的重视。迪士尼的数码立体技术Disney Digital 3D一研制完成，即便选用本片作为首套以Disney Digital 3D重制的经典电影，更是由蒂姆·伯顿及导演Henry Selick亲身率领顶尖好莱坞特效班底Industrial Light & Magic和In-Three, Inc.，合力由头到尾将电影逐格菲林3D数码化。ILM的顶级CG动画师将每一格影片的物件“勾出”，分成不同的layer层次，观众戴上最新改良版的立体眼镜后，从电影开始到散场全程看到冲出银幕的立体效果，数码影像更清晰得可以伸手触碰一样：杰克的头颅伸到在你触手可及的眼前、捣蛋三人组在身边高歌要绑架圣诞老人，甚至见到大坏蛋布基从前排座位的头上跳出来吓你！
首部由一般平面电影变为3D的数码立体电影《怪诞城之夜》，采用迪士尼最新研制的数码立体Disney Digital 3D放映科技。有别于传统以两部投影机制造立体效果，Disney Digital 3D只需透过一部数码投影机，便能以超越人类感官所能认知的高速——每秒144次，交替放映特别为左眼及右眼而设的数码影像，制造前所未见的逼真画面。而这部崭新数码投影机投射的“偏极化光”( Polarized Light )，令影像的层次、距离感和立体部份的清晰度，均远远抛弃旧有3D技术。而每秒144次的超高交替播放频率，更让观众不再受旧有低频率影响而感到晕眩，全心投入立体世界，置身惊吓又搞鬼的怪诞城中，与鬼同乐！
精彩花絮·Behemoth这个角色是以瑞典籍摔跤运动员、B级片明星Tor Johnson为原型的。
·在蒂姆·伯顿执导的的第一部影片《文森特》中的猫出现在影片开头，就是跳进垃圾箱里那只。
